I can’t be an expert in every destination. Even if I’ve lived there, I have only so many hours in the day, and I spend a bunch of that time maintaining this site (it’s a one-woman-operation here). That’s where our local Destination Experts come in!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: inspire and inform local and international travelers about your country, state or province. You will become a travel writer for your destination. These travel writing jobs require writing REGULAR reviews of tourist locations, local events, dining options and lodging. In addition, you will help local businesses in your area achieve publicity world-wide and keep Destination: Travel Tips readers informed about the newest trends and hippest spots in your local neighborhood.

Please don’t apply if you cannot submit at least a couple of items per month. This is one of our travel writing jobs, after all, and it requires that you do some work. If you can't make this commitment, consider simply posting your tips as you come up with them as a visitor. We will have to drop Destination Experts who do not submit new articles often enough.

- SWAG - yes, that’s right. Free stuff. Usually it’s things to review and write about on our site - from ebooks to backpacks. Sometimes it’s swag I pick up at industry events. Whatever it is, it’s bound to be cool (because it’s free - duh!)... I try to send out “care packages” to my interns once a quarter at least.
- The possibility of arranging free entries to local events, destinations and tourist attractions.
- Monthly prizes - from Amazon.com gift cards to actual travel gifts (like airline miles and cruise gift cards) they change every month but are always worth it!

How to apply:

VERY IMPORTANT! You MUST include your email address when you send reviews and articles in or I won’t be able to contact you.

Simply write an interesting and informative travel tip about your location and submit it via our submission forms. You can use the general submission form below or one on a specific country/location page.

Finish your submission with the words: Destination Expert Application For [your territory]. You MUST include an email address or we will be unable to contact you about our travel writing opportunities.

Including a photo is always very helpful and gives us all sorts of warm fuzzies about your application, but is not required.

Please note, anything you send us MUST be your own work, unpublished anywhere else.
